This is two of the
four or five bluebirds that have been visiting Harriet Behrens patio this week.
They look right at home on her sofa! Harriet said, "Guess I should
check the bluebird house that Kent donated to the Heritage Garden last year to
see if there is a nest being made."
May Meeting

April in the Rose Garden
The roses were just
finishing their first full bloom and there was plenty of dead heading to be
done. Although only a few members are shown in these photos many others
turned out to help.

Tree Planting
Habitat for
Humanity
On Saturday,
March 1, Betty and David Jackson traveled to
Fullerton
(430 West
Valencia
) to deliver pots planted with pink heather, thyme and pansies to the new
Habitat for Humanity homeowners. There were two brand new homes with fresh
new paint and fresh new landscaping. When they rang the door bell of the
first home they were thrilled to find the mother and two of her three teenage
children at home. Betty explained why they were there and that they were
representing the Canyon Crest Garden Club. The new homeowners were
thrilled and invited Betty and Dave in to see their new four bedroom home.
The mother informed them that this would be their first night in their new home
and she was very excited. Betty learned that when the new homeowners are
presented with the home they receive it completely decorated and furnished,
including dishes, linens, furniture, accessories, everything they need.
Needless to say Dave and
Betty were very touched at how appreciative this family was of their new home.
Anderson-Jackson Group, Inc. was very happy to donate the pots and all the
plants to the new homeowners on behalf of our garden club.
Before they
left the father came home from work so they had an opportunity to meet him as
well. The above photos are of the home, the pots and the family.
